Phil Cullis has held various tax-related roles throughout their career. Phil started in 1998 working as a Tax Assistant and eventually became an Assistant Tax Manager at KPMG UK. Phil then worked at Scottish Widows as a Tax Manager and later as a Senior Tax Manager. At Swiss Re, they held multiple positions, including Senior Tax Manager, Acting UK Tax Director, and Director of European Tax Products. Phil also worked at Phoenix Group as the Deputy Head of Group Tax and later as the Head of Group Tax. Phil then moved to Guardian Financial Services and served as the Head of Group Tax. Phil subsequently joined Utmost Group of Companies as the Head of Group Tax before their current role as the Head of Tax at Monument Re Group. Prior to their tax career, Cullis worked as a Lecturer in History at the University of the West of England and the University of Edinburgh.
Phil Cullis has a strong educational background, with degrees from the University of Cambridge. Phil completed their Bachelor of Arts in History from 1985 to 1988. Subsequently, from 1988 to 1992, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in American History at the same institution.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Phil Cullis also holds a certification as a Chartered Tax Adviser. Phil obtained this certification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in August 2001.
