Zakiya Lasley has extensive experience in Montessori education, serving as Associate Head of School and occupying various teaching roles at Montessori Academy of Chicago since August 2011. Zakiya holds leadership positions including Middle School Director and Elementary Coordinator, in addition to being a lead teacher for Montessori Middle School and Co-Lead for Upper Elementary. With a strong focus on curriculum planning and instruction across subjects such as Geometry, Language, Science, and History, Zakiya has also gained experience as a co-lead in Lower Elementary and worked as an intern in the field. Prior educational roles include a Teaching Assistant in the Department of African American Studies at Syracuse University, and a Court Intern at Oneida Family Court. Zakiya earned a Master's degree in Pan-African Studies from Syracuse University and a Bachelor's degree in African American Studies/Women's Studies from Hamilton College.
