Scott Behrens

VP of Enrollment Management & Student Success at Monroe County Community College

Scott Behrens is the current VP of Enrollment Management & Student Success at Monroe County Community College. Prior to their current position, Scott served as the Vice President of Teaching and Learning at Northwest Florida State College from January 2018 to June 2019.

During their time at Northwest Florida State College, Scott was responsible for leading the initial writing project for multiple Triumph Grants, which resulted in the college receiving merit-based funding in Florida for the very first time in its history. Under Scott's leadership, the college also secured new partnerships in the community, resulting in the use of 50,000 square feet of classroom space being donated to the college at our local airport for an airframe, power-plant and engineer program (2.6-million-dollar valuation) and a Saber Liner Jet. Additionally, Scott helped develop a new Distance Learning campus and led the creation of a "Career Day" initiative which involved more than 60 businesses and 1000+ high school students.

Some of Scott's notable accomplishments during their time at Northwest Florida State College include leading the college to be interviewed as a top 50 finalist for the ASPEN prize, having the Collegiate High School rank #1 in graduation rate, and presenting at AACC in 2018 on "Bringing Effective Change through Transformational Leadership." Additionally, under Scott's guidance, new faculty focused initiatives resulted in a decreased student class withdrawal rates by 20% and a student success rate (ABC Grades) of 82% (a 2% increase in one year).

Scott Behrens received their PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida. Prior to that, they received their Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona. Scott also holds a B.A. in Psychology/Music from McDaniel College. Scott is certified by the Florida Department of Education as a Real Estate Broker/Sales Agent.

They are on a team with James A. Ross - Director of Data Processing Services, Grace B. Yackee - VP of Instruction, and Barry Kinsey - Director of Workforce Development. and Valerie Culler - Director of Financial Aid reports to Scott Behrens. Scott Behrens reports to Kojo A. Quartey, President.
