Carl-Johan Åkerström has extensive work experience in the engineering and maritime industry. Carl-Johan started their career as an Intern at TTS Marine AB in 2011. In 2012, they worked as a Master Thesis Student at Det Norske Veritas. Carl-Johan then joined DNV GL in 2012 and held various roles such as Hull Approval Engineer, Tankers and Dry Cargo Ships, Newbuilding Surveyor, Engineer in Rules and Standards, and Senior Engineer in the Emergency Response Service (ERS™). Their responsibilities at DNV GL included conducting design verifications, structural analyses, and providing expert assistance for ships and offshore units in emergency situations. In 2019, they joined Modvion as a Development Engineer, where they contributed to the development of modular wind power towers in laminated wood, enabling taller turbines and cost reductions in wind energy production.
Carl-Johan Åkerström began their education journey in 2007 at Chalmers University of Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. After completing their undergraduate studies in 2010, they continued their educational pursuits at the same university and earned a Master's Degree in Naval Architecture by the year 2012.
In terms of additional certifications, Carl-Johan Åkerström obtained three certifications in project management: "Learning Microsoft Project," "Project Management Foundations," and "Project Management Simplified." These certifications were acquired from the institution LinkedIn in August 2020.
