Matthew Stone has a decade of work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data science. In 2009, they began their career as a Web Developer for The Dartmouth, Inc., where they took part in a port of the existing website from PHP to Ruby on Rails, contributed to an extensive redesign of both the front and back ends of thedartmouth.com, and served as general IT help. In 2010, they worked as an Engineering Intern for Navilyst Medical. From 2012 to 2014, they held the role of Bioinformatics Research Intern at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2014, they were promoted to Bioinformatics Specialist I, and then to Bioinformatics Specialist II in 2015. From 2018 to 2020, they were a PhD Student and CIBM Predoctoral Trainee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2020, they began their role as a Data Scientist at Fred Hutch, where they drove bioinformatic analysis for all projects in the Fred Hutch Innovation Lab, managed experimental priorities for a team of two lab technicians, led collaborations with multiple industry partners to analyze and evaluate single-cell and spatial RNA-sequencing technologies, and developed a Python pipeline to process sequencing data from a custom V(D)J enrichment assay. Matthew is currently employed as a Data Scientist at Modulus Therapeutics, a position they have held since 2022.
Matthew Stone completed their M.S. in Biomedical Data Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020. Prior to that, they obtained their B.A. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College in 2015.
