Gene Mayo has held various positions in the past twenty years. Gene began their career in 1999 as a Firefighter/EMT for the Almira Township Fire & EMS Department. In 2006, they became an EMT Specialist for the Benzie County EMS. Gene then went on to serve as Emergency Manager for Benzie County from 2009 to 2013. During this time, they also worked as Adjunct Faculty for Northwestern Michigan College, EMS Instructor for Munson Regional EMS Education, and Armed Security Officer for US Security Associates. In 2013, they began working in Sales for Radio North LLC. In 2015, they became a Clinical Research Coordinator for Medical Research Associates. Most recently, they have been working as Manager of Operations for ModUcom since 2019.

Gene Mayo attended Anchor Bay High School from 1990 to 1992.
