Eric Katzfey has been working in the software and engineering industry since 1991. From 1991 to 2015, they held various engineering and management titles at Qualcomm, including Senior Director of Technology, Project Engineer for a custom ASIC for femto/small cellular base-stations, Project Engineer for a CDMA 1x base station modem custom ASIC, Software Lead for a WCDMA base station modem, and Software Lead for 1x-EVDO small base station modem. From 2015 to 2018, they were the Senior Director of Technology at Qualcomm, where they worked on a OneWeb LEO satellite constellation simulator for user terminal testing. Eric also developed a Python and web page based controller application to manage embedded processing units, hosted on a CentOS Linux server. In 2018, they began working at ModalAI as the Chief of Software, leading the development of software for robotics applications built upon Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC devices and specializing in Linux, ROS, and advanced algorithms such as SLAM, VIO, VOA, and AI.
Eric Katzfey earned a BA in Computer Science from UC San Diego between 1989 and 1991, with a focus on embedded programming, graphics, and other related topics. Eric also earned a BA in Management Science from UC San Diego between 1985 and 1989, with a focus on microeconomic theory.
