Robert Wilby has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Starting in 1990, they worked as a Finance Manager Europe at BT Syncordia. Robert then moved on to BT Worldwide in 1994, where they served as a Project Finance Manager until 1998. From 1999 to 2003, they worked as a Finance Director at BT Ignite. In 2001, they joined BT Wholesale as a Finance Director for Wholesale Networks/International Operations, responsible for managing financial aspects of infrastructure and technology functions.
In 2010, Wilby became a Non-executive Director at Xoserve, representing the Southern Gas Distribution Network and overseeing governance, strategy, budgets, performance review, and corporate legal obligations until 2017.
From 2009 to 2017, they worked at Scotia Gas Networks as the Head of Finance/Business Development. In this role, they spearheaded the expansion of non-core business operations, introduced new products and services, and acquired new licenses. Robert operated at board and executive levels and led the transition from a management accounting approach to a business partnering approach for directors.
Wilby also served as a Lead Consultant at Mitesco Business Partners from 2019 to 2020. Robert played a crucial role in developing the consultancy business, creating presentational material and client strategies, and leading client meetings.
Since 2018, Wilby has worked at Matthews Business Associates Limited as a Business Advisor. In this position, they have been involved in various client projects, including implementing Making Tax Digital for a small accounting practice, optimizing data capture methodologies, and improving client management information.
Most recently, starting in 2022, Wilby has taken on the role of Head of Finance at Mobilise.
Robert Wilby's education history begins in 1992 when they enrolled at Kingston University to pursue an MBA with a focus on International Business. Robert completed their degree in 1994. Afterward, in 2000, they attended The Open University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with honors in Physics, which they pursued until 2009.
In 2010, Robert resumed their studies at The Open University, this time focusing on Mathematics and earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) degree, which they completed in 2015. Robert then furthered their education in 2012, attending the London Business School for a course on Corporate Finance.
Continuing their passion for mathematics, Robert returned to The Open University in 2016 to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mathematics, which they expect to complete in 2021.
