Gordon Long is a highly experienced director currently overseeing the JASON Program Office at MITRE since May 2007, managing a prestigious advisory group that provides insight on science and technology to the U.S. government, particularly in national security. Previously, Gordon held the position of Chief Engineer at Naval Aviation Systems Department, where oversight of technical efforts and acquisition initiatives was a key responsibility. Gordon's earlier roles include Engineer and Project Manager at Naval Air Systems Command, focusing on modeling and simulation for advanced military aircraft, and a scientific research position at the University of Victoria, where Gordon specialized in High Energy Physics at CERN. Gordon began a career as a software engineer at Northrop Grumman before obtaining a PhD in High Energy Physics from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
