Michael McEwen serves as a statewide general assignment reporter for Mississippi Public Broadcasting since April 2023. Prior to this role, McEwen worked as a freelance reporter and intern for WLRN Public Media from June 2022 to April 2023, covering issues such as public transportation, the environment, Latin American politics, and youth violence in a top-20 media market. Earlier, McEwen held multiple positions including News Director, Investigations Director, Assistant News Director, and Staff Writer at PantherNOW from August 2021 to January 2023. Additionally, McEwen was Vice President and a Communications Committee member at Global Indigenous Group from June 2020 to February 2022, responsible for disseminating information and engaging with local indigenous communities and university entities. Michael McEwen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University in May 2023, and previously studied Political Violence and Insurgencies at Florida SouthWestern State College from 2015 to 2018.
