Andries Kingsley, CMEngNZ, Pr Eng has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades in various engineering roles. Andries is currently working as the Director of Engineering at Mint Innovation since February 2023. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Project Engineer at Waste Management NZ Ltd from September 2021 to January 2023.
From September 2020 to August 2021, Andries worked as an Independent Engineering Consultant, providing mechanical and project engineering services in New Zealand and South Africa. Andries supported clients in power, oil and gas, and mining sectors, offering assistance in proposals, feasibility studies, detail design, and construction activities. Notable projects include a power generation project for Kiribati and a hydrogen power generation study for NEOM.
Andries also has experience in the engineering consultancy sector, having worked at Worley from June 2011 to October 2020. Andries started as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, where they led mechanical engineers and designers for plant modifications and expansions. Their responsibilities included proposal management, budget estimates, progress measurement, team management, and technical guidance. Andries then progressed to the role of Manager Mechanical Engineering, where they supervised the Mechanical Engineering function on a national level, managing a team of around 35 engineers. Before joining Worley, Andries gained valuable expertise at Wood, where they worked from February 2003 to October 2011. Andries served as the Chief Mechanical Engineer, responsible for managing the Mechanical Engineering Group, including staffing, training, new project proposals, and performance reviews. Andries also acted as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for capital projects, overseeing mechanical engineering activities for clients like Petronet, Sasol, Afrox, and Chevron.
Andries started their professional career at PMG Project Management Group in November 2002, where they worked as a Safety Engineer at the Intel Ireland Fab 24 site. Their responsibilities included design reviews, safety system audits, and ensuring safety compliance for new equipment installations.
Prior to PMG, Andries worked at Sasol from February 1996 to April 2002, holding various roles. As a Senior Reliability Engineer, they focused on optimizing equipment availability and reliability in the Sulphur East and West plants. Andries also conducted plant performance investigations and facilitated root cause analyses. Andries then progressed to the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer, where they managed mechanical engineering compliance on capital projects and prepared purchase specifications. Andries initially joined Sasol as a Mechanical Engineer, providing maintenance support for different plants and acting as a Maintenance Section Leader during factory shutdowns.

Andries Kingsley, CMEngNZ, Pr Eng completed their matriculation from Technical High School Klerksdorp, where they attended from 1987 to 1991. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 1992 to 1995, specializing in Mechanical Engineering.
