Hidde de Vries has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of web accessibility, development, and communication. Hidde has held various roles in different organizations. Hidde has worked as a Standardisation expert (web accessibility) at Logius in 2024. Prior to that, they served as the PR/communications lead for NL Design System at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in 2023. In the same organization, they also worked as an Accessibility specialist for NL Design System. From 2018 to 2022, Hidde ran hiddedevries.nl as a freelancer, working as an Accessibility auditor/consultant, public speaker, and front-end developer. Hidde has also had experiences in developer relations at Sanity.io, as a developer/accessibility specialist for WAI-Guide project at W3C, as a Senior front-end developer/accessibility specialist at Gemeente Den Haag, and as a Senior front-end developer at Mozilla, Ministerie van BZK, Wigo4it, and Delta Lloyd. Hidde's work focuses on building inclusive, accessible, and user-centered digital services, as well as providing consulting and training in web accessibility. Hidde has worked with clients such as Logius, NOS, Mozilla/MDN, Bol.com, City of The Hague, European Commission, Frozen Rockets, Gemeente Den Haag, and Zilveren Kruis Achmea.
Hidde de Vries completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence at Utrecht University from 2009 to 2012. Hidde later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy at the University of Bristol from 2013 to 2015.
