Maria Gonsalves is an accomplished medical student at the University of Birmingham, pursuing an MBChB in Medicine and Surgery from 2019 to 2025, alongside an intercalated BSc in Anatomy, Developmental, and Human Biology from King's College London in 2022-2023. Currently serving as President of the University of Birmingham Trauma & Orthopaedics Society, Maria leads initiatives to enhance orthopaedic education and mentorship among medical students. In addition, Maria is actively involved in the British Orthopaedic Medical Students Association as the Birmingham Lead, and leads regional efforts at STARSurg UK and InciSioN to promote research and advocacy in surgery. Maria also represents the University of Birmingham Medical School for the Mind the Bleep educational platform and has gained hands-on experience as a Bank Healthcare Assistant at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. Prior roles include a Student Ambassador at King's College London, a COVID-19 Vaccination Immuniser, and a First Aider at CODE BLUE MEDICAL CPR/FIRST AID, LLC, showcasing a strong commitment to medical education, research, and community health initiatives.
