Steve Rodney has a diverse range of work experience in both academic and industry settings. Steve is currently the Algorithms Research Team Lead at MIM Software Inc., a position they have held since February 2023. Before this role, they were a Senior Research Scientist at the same company from October 2022 to February 2023. Prior to joining MIM Software Inc., Steve worked as a Research Scientist II from August 2021 to October 2022.

Before their industry positions, Steve was an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina from August 2015 to August 2021. Steve also worked at Johns Hopkins University, where they were a Hubble Postdoctoral Research Fellow from August 2012 to July 2015, and an Assistant Research Scientist from January 2010 to July 2015.

Steve Rodney attended Cleveland Heights High School for their secondary education. Steve then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy at Case Western Reserve University from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, they enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and completed a Master's degree in Astronomy from 2003 to 2005. Steve continued their studies at the same university and received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Astronomy in 2009.
