Vanessa Cohen Gibbons is an accomplished education professional currently serving as the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer at Milton Academy since September 2016. In this role, Vanessa provides strategic leadership to enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) initiatives across the K-12 spectrum, focusing on fostering anti-racist citizenship among students. Vanessa has also held various positions at Milton Academy, including Upper School Director of Equity, where responsibilities included leading equity efforts and developing programs to combat marginalization. Prior experience includes serving as an Upper School Math Teacher and Dorm Faculty at Garrison Forest School. Vanessa holds a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Maryland and a BS in Physics from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.
