Julie started their career at Herman Miller in 1987, where they held various roles such as Facilitator of Database Services, Engineering Analyst, Inventory Analyst, and Project Coordinator. In these positions, they provided leadership and support for a data base team that supported new product development and product maintenance across different manufacturing sites and subsidiaries.

In 2000, Julie became the Product Information Manager at Herman Miller, responsible for leading teams in the development, maintenance, and successful launch of product information. Julie led the successful data migration to new systems and played a key role in the development and launch of a new product information database.
