Mill Creek MetroParks Executive Director, Aaron Young, was born and raised in nearby Braceville Township. He graduated from LaBrae High School and then went on to attend The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelorsā of science degree in landscape architecture. Following graduation, Young started out as a landscape designer working on botanical garden projects for Environmental Planning and Design LLC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He then moved on to spend eight years at E.G. & G., Inc. Ohio (now a division of CT Consultants) in downtown Akron, where as a State of Ohio Licensed Landscape Architect, he managed new park development, urban design, and economic development projects for a multitude of public sector clients. After that, Young served nine years and advanced to the position of Director of Planning & Operations for the Geauga Park District, where he was responsible for nearly 10,000 acres of preserved land, 19 open parks, and a county-wide bike trail. Young was named executive director of Mill Creek MetroParks in January 2015.
Young is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, Braceville United Methodist Church, and the Mahoning County Trustees Association. He is an avid outdoorsman and currently resides in Braceville Township with his wife and three children.
