Michael D. George co-founded Mid-America in 1984 and developed the Chicago-based firm into a prominent retail real estate brokerage company. Mr. George has personally directed the firm's growth in brokerage, as well as its diversification into investment sales and asset management.
Mr. George has been responsible for some of Mid-America's greatest successes in tenant representation as well as counseling investment firms in the acquisition and sale of shopping centers. Since its inception, Mid-America's Investment Sales Group has completed over 99 million square feet of shopping center sales with an aggregate value in excess of $11 billion.
In 1991, Mr. George started Mid-America Asset Management, a shopping center management company that now leases and manages over 55 million square feet of retail properties throughout metropolitan Chicago and the Midwest. Clients include various pension fund advisors, insurance companies and other institutional and private owners.
Mr. George has been involved in the complete redevelopment of The Brickyard Shopping Center located in Chicago as well as the development of the award winning mixed-use project in downtown Park Ridge, Illinois.
During his term as President, Mid-America has opened offices in Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Detroit.
A graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in finance, Mr. George is highly regarded among his peers in the retail industry. He is active in the affairs of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
