Chris Freiburger

Aquatic Ecologist at Michigan Lottery

Chris Freiburger is an experienced aquatic ecologist with a robust background in habitat management and environmental assessment. Since January 1999, Chris has served as a supervisor for the Habitat Management, Environmental Assessment Unit at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, administering the hydropower dam relicensing program to protect aquatic habitats and mitigate environmental impacts. Prior to this role, Chris worked at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources from January 1992 to January 1999, first as a Watershed Coordinator, leading the Big Sandy Area Lakes Landscape Management Project, and then as a Fisheries Specialist, managing fisheries resources in the Grand Rapids Area. Chris holds a Master of Science in Aquatic Biology/Limnology from South Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Science in Fishing and Fisheries Sciences and Management from Ball State University.
