Spencer Lucker is currently the Director of Strategic Talent Initiatives at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, a position they have held since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked for the City of Detroit, where they held various roles, including Director of Employer Engagement for the Mayor's Workforce Development Board and Engagement Strategy Manager for the same board. In these positions, they were responsible for developing strategies to support employers in the Technology and Healthcare industries and creating training and employment opportunities for Detroiters. Before their work in Detroit, Lucker served as Director of the Delta Leadership Institute at the Delta Regional Authority and held roles such as Program Advisor and Director of Communications & Public Engagement. Spencer also had experiences working for Hillary for America as National Press Advance Lead, the Clinton Global Initiative in press logistics, the Clinton School of Public Service as a Research Assistant of Public Administration, and Lee High School as a Program Developer. Further in their career, they served as a Program Development and Fundraising Consultant for Minga Peru, an Evaluation Consultant for Village Life Outreach Project, Inc., and a Membership Consultant for the Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
Spencer Lucker completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations-European Studies and Spanish from the University of Arkansas from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2006, they attended Little Rock Central High School, where they did not obtain any specific degrees or fields of study. Spencer later pursued further education and obtained a Master of Public Service (MPS) degree from the Clinton School of Public Service from 2010 to 2012. In 2017, they attended the Harvard Kennedy School for an Executive Education Certificate program in Authentic Leadership.
