Alex Russell-Smith has 9 years’ experience in management, financial reporting, modelling, developing and executing strategy, operations and best practice controls. Prior to joining MFS Africa, Alex spent two years in Johannesburg as a Regional Financial Controller for Weir Minerals. He led changes in financial reporting and operations for a BBBEE carve-out, transformed regional cash management reporting and refreshed departmental processes, including development of an automated month-end consolidation reporting tool. He is a registered Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland, having worked with EY (Ernst & Young) in the UK for four years. He holds a MA(Hons) in Economics and Environmental Studies from Edinburgh University and is completing his MBA at Warwick Business School. Alex is fluent in English and proficient in Hungarian.
