Heidi Bonnaffon is a Senior Environmental Planner at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, a position held since August 2005. In this role, Bonnaffon staffs the Chesapeake Bay Policy Committee, engaging local elected officials and technical staff in addressing Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River water quality, water infrastructure, climate resiliency, and monitoring state and national policies. Previously, Bonnaffon worked as a Program Associate at the National Association of City and County Health Officials from 2000 to 2002, managing grant funding and providing technical assistance through the public health Hazardous Waste Grant Program, while also contributing to the guidebook for interagency collaboration at hazardous waste sites. Bonnaffon holds a Master's Degree in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development and a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology/Animal Biology, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
