Jacob Welch is a distinguished Full Professor and Chair of the Theatre and Dance Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver since August 2005, overseeing a vibrant program of over 185 majors and 30 minors while specializing in lighting design for theatrical productions. In addition to academic responsibilities, Jacob Welch operates as a freelance Lighting Designer under Jacob Welch Lighting, providing expertise across various genres including theatre, dance, opera, and corporate events. Notable design contributions include significant works at CREEDE REPERTORY THEATRE INC and Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, showcasing a wide-ranging portfolio with numerous esteemed theatres and performance venues. Jacob Welch holds an MFA in Theatre Design with a focus on Lighting Design from Western Illinois University and an Associate of Arts degree in Theatre from Spoon River College.
