Maurice Wheeler is an experienced professional in archives and information science, currently serving as the Director of Archives at the Metropolitan Opera since January 2023, while also holding the position of Professor of Information Science at the University of North Texas since June 2002. As President of MBWheeler and Associates since 2010, Maurice specializes in research and curation consulting for music and opera archives as well as management consulting in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and organizational effectiveness. Notably, Maurice co-curated the "Black Voices at the Met" Exhibition from April 2019 to July 2021, overseeing historical research and exhibition development. Previous roles include Director of the Detroit Public Library from 1996 to 2002. Academic qualifications include degrees from the University of Michigan, Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and the University of Pittsburgh, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Library and Information Sciences.
