Rahel Gemechu is an experienced program coordinator currently overseeing the Women's Economic Development Program at Metropolitan Family Service since February 2018. With a robust background in supporting immigrants and refugees, Rahel previously worked with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, assisting numerous families and developing youth programs. Earlier roles include providing care for adults with developmental disabilities, tutoring at-risk students, and supporting educators as an intern in various schools. Rahel holds a Master’s Degree in International Development and Service from Concordia University-Portland, complemented by additional graduate studies in Italy and Ecuador. A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health from Portland State University further underscores Rahel’s commitment to community health and empowerment.
