Karen Alexander has a diverse work experience in the field of XR technologies. Karen has been working in this field since 2016, when they started as Director at XRconnectED, developing strategy, building community, and fostering education. In 2018, they became the Director of PGH in 360: Youth Perspectives, which empowers young people in Pittsburgh by giving them a platform, tools, and training for media production and self-expression in 360 video. In 2020, they became Co-Founder of XR Women, and also became a Collective Member of the Virtual Dance Exchange Project and a Team Author and Editor of the XR Collaboration Resource Guide. In 2021, they became Compliance Director & Immersive Learning Consultant at MetaVRse, Team Producer of The Polys - WebXR Awards, and State of XR & Immersive Learning Report Expert Panelist at the Immersive Learning Research Network. Finally, in 2022, they became an External Expert for the VIWO - Virtual Worlds in Education Project at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna.
Karen Alexander began their education journey in 1999 when they earned their PhD in English from UCL. Karen then went on to earn a Master of Arts (MA) in Issues in Modern Culture from UCL. Lastly, they earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Philosophy from the University of Louisville.
