John McGarity has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. In 1923, they started working as a visual artist at JB McGarity, specializing in digital art, NFT, mixed media, paint, photo, installation, and video. John holds a BFA in film/video/photography from UMBC and an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute. McGarity's work is inspired by folklore and mythology, exploring spirituality and the pursuit of knowledge through visual and symbolic elements. In 1990, they became the owner of Walling McGarity LLC, and in 2019, they founded Metapyxl.

John McGarity has a solid education history with a focus on fine arts. John obtained their MFA in Fine Arts - Painting from Pratt Institute, where they studied from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Film/Video and Photographic Arts at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
