Xiaowan Zhang is a Research Scientist and Test Development Manager at MetaMetrics, Inc. since May 2021. Previously, Xiaowan served as a Graduate Assistant at Michigan State University from August 2016 to March 2022, teaching courses on second-language-learning theory and language pedagogy, while conducting research on language assessments and second language acquisition. A summer internship at Michigan Language Assessment in 2019 involved developing a toolkit geared towards understanding the impact of testing on teaching and learning. Earlier experience includes a Graduate Assistant role at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and teaching English at Web International English Co., Ltd. Xiaowan holds a PhD in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University, an MA in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a BA in English Language and Literature from Wuhan University.
