Janet Milliez

Product Manager at Metalenz

Janet Milliez has held a variety of engineering and product management roles in the past 20 years. Janet began their career in 2001 as a PhD student and Research Scientist at the University of Central Florida's CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics. There, they enhanced the understanding of up-conversion in co-doped rare earth fluoride phosphors by developing a thermally dependent rate equation model and conducted spectroscopy and photometry/radiometry/colorimetry experiments.

In 2006, they began working at Panasonic as an Engineer, where they developed optical solutions for consumer and professional electronics applications, such as designing, prototyping and testing optical components.

In 2010, they joined Osram Sylvania as a Manager of Engineering, where they managed the Optical Engineering Group responsible for the Product Development of the light engine of LED retrofit lamps for consumer market. Janet also led Product Development projects, working closely with cross-functional teams and international competence teams in North America, Europe and Asia.

In 2016, Janet joined LEDVANCE as a Staff Special Technology Engineer, acting as Product Manager, managing a portfolio of over 300 SKUs of electronic products for commercial applications. Janet launched four new product lines of electronic products with Phase In/Phase Out (PIPO) activities, sourced from suppliers in North America and Asia, created and maintained product roadmaps, defined product specifications, handled all project management related tasks part of product launches, and managed inventory through SAP ERP.

Janet is currently working at metalenz, where they have held the roles of Product Manager, Sr Systems Engineer, and Optical Systems Applications Engineer since 2021.

Janet Milliez attended Lycée Saint Louis from 1994 to 1997. Janet then went on to Télécom Physique Strasbourg, where they obtained their Master of Engineering - MEng degree between 1997 and 2000. Finally, they completed their PhD in Optics from the University of Central Florida in 2006.
