Margaret Hackney is an experienced scientist specializing in gene therapy and genome editing. Currently serving as an Associate Scientist in Discovery at Metagenomi since January 2022, Margaret previously held several positions including Senior Research Associate in Genome Editing and Research Associate II in Gene Therapy at Ambys Medicines, where AAV vector production and purification for in vivo testing were key responsibilities. Prior experience includes a role at Spotlight Therapeutics as a Research Associate II in Molecular Biology, where design and cloning of plasmid constructs were executed, and a position as Lab Instructor at California State University, East Bay, teaching various biology courses and maintaining cell cultures. Margaret began their career as a Laboratory Technician at California Polytechnic State University, working on gene identification projects in the Animal Science department.
