Pieter van Exter has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Pieter played a key role in building Metabolic Link, a nature assessment solution for companies. Pieter advised businesses, governments, and non-profits on circular economy strategies. Pieter also worked at jungle by night as a saxophonist, contributing to their unique afro beats and ethiobreaks sound. Pieter was a Vetting Tool Specialist at Dayrize.com, a marketplace for sustainable products. Additionally, they interned at Ecofys, where they developed a global energy transition model. Pieter also has experience in website development and online communication. Pieter worked as a Website Developer and Online Communication Specialist at Doede Jaarsma communicatie. Pieter also held positions at Urgenda, where they were an Office Employee, and at stadsdeel Oost-Watergraafsmeer as a Project Assistant.

Pieter van Exter began their education at Ignatiusgymnasium in 2003 and completed their studies in 2009. Afterward, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Future Planet Studies at the University of Amsterdam from 2010 to 2013. Pieter then furthered their education by attaining a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Ecology from Delft University of Technology, where they studied from 2015 until 2017.
