Omkar Salpekar is a Senior Software Engineer at Meta since September 2019, where responsibilities include training Llama models and leading PyTorch development infrastructure and MLOps for machine learning. Previously, Omkar contributed as a Research Assistant at Berkeley RISE Lab, participating in the Modin project, and held various positions in investor roles at Rough Draft Ventures and managing director at Free Ventures, UC Berkeley's startup accelerator. Omkar gained early experience through internships at Facebook, Tanium, and Texas Instruments, as well as research assistantship roles in the AMPLab and SETI Research Center. Omkar holds a Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, both from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, Omkar founded the non-profit organization, Youth of the Future, which provides free STEM education to young students.
