John Macone is an experienced professional with a diverse background in environmental policy, nonprofit management, and journalism. Currently serving as the Policy and Education Director at Merrimack River Watershed Council since November 2017, John has also held roles including Outreach Coordinator, Interim Director, and Development and Engagement Specialist, focusing on social media and web content strategy. As the owner and manager of Farmer John's Organic Foods, John operates a neighborhood organic farm that specializes in heirloom crops and free-range poultry. Previously, John was a Senior Staff Member at Fronetics, where responsibilities included creating marketing materials and developing SEO strategies. With extensive editorial experience as Editor of Newburyport Daily News and City Editor at The Eagle-Tribune, John has also worked as an Interpretive Ranger with the National Park Service and as a Park Ranger in Maine. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Union College.
