Karissa George, SPHR, has an extensive work history in the human resources field. From 1999 to 2016, they served as the Corporate Vice President of Human Resources at John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. In this role, they oversaw all strategic people initiatives and provided operational leadership for various HR functions. Karissa also played a key role in implementing diversity initiatives within the company. Since 2016, Karissa has been working at Meritage Homes, where they have held two positions. Currently, as the Vice President of Talent Management and Learning, they are responsible for driving the development and execution of talent management and learning initiatives across the organization. Previously, as the Vice President of People Operations, they provided strategic leadership on workforce planning, talent management, and development for ten markets across Meritage Homes' South and Florida Regions.
Karissa George, SPHR, holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Emory University, which they earned from 1995 to 1999. Karissa further pursued their education and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Policy Studies from Georgia State University, completing their studies from 1999 to 2001. In addition to their academic achievements, Karissa George has received certifications such as the SHRM-SCP from SHRM in 2015 and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) Certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2013.
