Maris Van Vlack is a skilled Textile Designer currently working at Merida since June 2021, where Maris has contributed to the development of rug designs for the Atelier collection and created CAD files for both the Jacquard loom and robot tufting machine. Prior experience includes a Textile Design Internship at Merida, where Maris collaborated with the Design Team on rug collections and assisted with yarn dyeing and catalog graphics. Maris also serves as a Graduate Student Tutor at the Rhode Island School of Design, providing instruction on intermediate weaving techniques, and has experience as a Teaching Assistant, preparing classes and critiquing student work. An Artist in Residence at the Museum of American Bird Art at Mass Audubon, Maris documented wildlife through drawings, blending artistic and scientific skills. Maris holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design and has supplemented education with courses at Brown University.
