Yongqian Zhang

Senior Scientist at Merck

Yongqian (Kelly) Zhang is a Senior Scientist at Merck, specializing in Molecular and Biophysical Characterization within Analytical Enabling Capabilities since June 2020. Prior to this role, Yongqian served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Professor Robert J from June 2015 to April 2020, and completed a PhD Research and Development internship at 3M in summer 2017. Yongqian began academic pursuits with an undergraduate research assistantship in the Biology Department at Ithaca College, where a high throughput method for measuring PSII electron efficiency was developed, revealing differential responses of sun-adapted and shade-adapted leaves. Yongqian also held leadership roles as President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and as a member of the Appropriations Committee in the Student Government Association at Ithaca College. Yongqian earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020.
