Amber Hilderbrand is a Senior Scientist at Merck since June 2020, with a strong academic background in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, holding a PhD from the University of Delaware and a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. Prior to joining Merck, Amber served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Delaware, focusing on the design and engineering of peptides for hydrogel biomaterials. As a graduate research assistant, significant contributions included the development of a 3D hydrogel-based culture system and investigations into the mechanical properties of hydrogel materials. Amber co-founded the EmPOWER Program, which supports graduate students in mental health and wellness, and held leadership roles in various graduate student organizations, enhancing departmental dialogue and community. Additional experience includes undergraduate research at Iowa State University and an engineering internship with Honeywell.
