Kari Staron has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Kari started their career as the Director of Social Services at Hennis Care Centre of Bolivar, where they provided social services for a rehabilitation and long term care facility. Kari was responsible for community referrals, marketing, case management services, staff education and training, and resident assessment. Kari also played a key role in implementing an electronic health record system.
In 2013, Kari joined Altercare Of Ohio as the Director of Social Services. Their responsibilities included providing corporate support and oversight to 21 long term care facilities. Kari conducted audits, provided training and education, and worked on the development and revision of policies and procedures. Kari also completed clinical reviews and submission of medical records for Medicare and insurance companies.
Kari's role expanded at Altercare Of Ohio to include a position as a Corporate ADL Trainer. In this role, they conducted ADL coding education for nursing staff in Ohio and Michigan. Kari monitored and evaluated the quality of documentation through auditing and MDS coding, which impacted the quality of medical records documentation and financial reimbursement for the facilities. Kari also completed audits for accuracy of RUGs and medical records for Medicare, managed care, and insurance purposes.
Most recently, Kari joined Menorah Park in 2023 as the Director of Health Information.
Kari Staron obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 1986 to 1991. Currently, they are pursuing a degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management at Walsh University, starting in 2021. In addition to their academic qualifications, Kari Staron has obtained several certifications, including Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Kent State University in December 2017, RAC-CT (Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator) from The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators in February 2014, and CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner) from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners in July 2013.
