Tom Nutt has a diverse work experience. Tom has served as the CEO of Meningitis Now since June 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Trustee at the Association of Medical Research Charities starting in December 2023. Tom was also a Trustee at the Essex Community Foundation from November 2016 to October 2017. Tom held the position of Director at HWE Insights Ltd from February 2016 to October 2017. Tom served as the CEO of Healthwatch Essex from October 2012 to June 2017. From 2008 to 2012, Tom worked for the Essex County Council in various roles including Senior Policy and Strategy Manager (Adults), Head of Voluntary Sector Relations, and Cabinet Advisor (Finance and Change Management). Prior to that, they were a Research Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge from 2005 to 2008 and a Research Assistant at The University of Manchester from 2000 to 2001.
Tom Nutt has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in History from the University of Cambridge, which they obtained from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed their MA in Social and Economic History at The University of Manchester from 1999 to 2000. Tom also holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and Modern History from The University of Manchester, which they earned from 1996 to 1999. Tom's earlier education includes completing their GCSE/A-levels at Sandon Comprehensive School in Chelmsford Essex from 1989 to 1996.
