Shaimaa Samir has held a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2011. In 2011, they were a Trainee at Security Meter, where they learned Linux fundamentals, wrote and compiled C codes using Linux systems, and studied Shell scripting fundamentals. Later that year, they were a Trainee at Intel, where they learned LTE fundamentals and worked on a real LTE problem. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Software and Development Engineer at Smartec-Group, where they drove a channel model of an indoor environment for a wireless sensor network, implemented optimization algorithms, and developed and implemented an optimization localization tool for wireless sensor networks using C++. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Research, Software and Development Engineer at RDI, where they developed and implemented different Arabic OCR (Optical Character Recognition) system modules using C++ and Matlab. Shaimaa also dealt with OpenCV library, tesseract and ocropus OCR engines, and implemented machine learning and pattern recognition techniques. Finally, from 2017 to the present, they have been an Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer at Mendel.ai.
Shaimaa Samir obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University in 2012. Shaimaa then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Communication and Machine Learning from the same institution in 2017.
