Philip Lavin, PhD, FASA, FRAPS, is an esteemed expert in statistics and strategic planning with extensive experience in clinical trials and medical device development. As the Principal of Lavin Consulting LLC since July 2013, Lavin specializes in innovative trial designs utilizing frequentist, Bayesian, and adaptive methodologies. As Co-Founder of Melior Capital Management from December 2019, Lavin aids in securing funding for biotech ventures, focusing on cardiology, hepatology, orthopedics, and diagnostics. In addition, Lavin has served as Executive Director of the Boston Biostatistics Research Foundation since 1988, leading efforts in the statistical analysis of groundbreaking medical innovations, including notable projects like Cologuard and Lokelma. Prior roles include Executive VP at Aptiv Solutions, where Lavin contributed to FDA approval processes and co-founding ICON plc, which grew to encompass a full-service focus on medical devices. Lavin holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and an AB in Math from the University of Rochester.
