Marcos Pomar has extensive work experience in the IT and data governance field. Marcos started their career as a J2EE Programmer at Fundació Universitat-Empresa de les Illes Balears in 2000. Marcos then worked as a B2B Programmer at Barceló Viajes S.L from 2001 to 2002. In 2003, they joined Meliá Hotels International as a PMS Hospitality Analyst and continued to work there in various roles including Senior Enterprise Architecture Analyst, PMO Project Manager, IT Information Governance project manager, IT Information Governance manager, Business Intelligence - Interim Director, and currently as the IT & Data Governance Director. Marcos'swork at Meliá Hotels International spans from 2003 till the present.

Marcos Pomar completed a Certificate Program in Strategic Hospitality Leadership at Cornell University from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Computer Science degree from Universitat de les Illes Balears from 1999 to 2000. Marcos also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the same university, which they completed from 1995 to 1999. In addition, Marcos received a CAP - Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica from Universitat de les Illes Balears in 2000. Marcos Pomar has also earned several additional certifications, including Deutsch B2 from Escuela Oficial de Idiomas in 2022, Deutsch B1 from Escuela Oficial de Idiomas in 2020, Project Management Professional (PMP)® from Project Management Institute in 2013, and English, First Certificate from Estudi General Lul.lià in 2001.
