Tom Gear

Senior Vice President Production at MEG Energy Corp

Tom Gear has over 24 years of work experience in the energy industry. Tom started their career at Petro-Canada in 1998, where they held various roles as a project engineer and plant engineer. In 2007, they became an advisor for oil sands infrastructure. In 2009, Tom joined Suncor and took on positions such as senior advisor, director, and general manager in different areas including marketing, trading, and operations. Throughout their time at Suncor, they also worked on environmental, health, and safety matters. In 2022, Tom joined MEG Energy Corp. as Vice President of Operations.

Tom Gear attended the University of Alberta from 1993 to 1998 where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Co-op. Tom has also received additional certifications including being a Professional Engineer from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), completing the Suncor In-Residence Leadership Program at Harvard Business School, and the Suncor Integrative Leadership Experience at Duke University. The specific months and years of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
