Katie Bates is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in product design and quality assurance within the biomedical field. Currently serving as a Principal Product Engineer and Principal Quality Engineer at Medtronic since October 2017, Katie has previously held roles at Covidien as a Development Engineer II, focusing on mechanical verification and validation for a radiofrequency detection system. Prior experience includes working as a Research and Design Engineer at EKOS Corporation, where significant improvements in the manufacturability of a catheter were achieved, and at the Puget Sound Veterans Administration Health Care System, enhancing prosthetic comfort and function. Katie also contributed as a consultant during the inception of Cadence Biomedical. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.
