Joseph Maldonado has held various leadership roles throughout their career. Currently, they serve as the CEO of Four County Management Corp./Med Societies, where they provide management services for six New York State county medical societies. Joseph is responsible for overseeing physician credentialing and managing a Medical Student Scholarship program.
Prior to this role, Maldonado served as a Member of the Board of Directors for Nascentia Health, a leading home and community-based care system in New York. Joseph contributed to the organization's efforts in providing healthcare insurance plans and services across the state.
Maldonado also held significant positions at the Medical Society of the State of New York, including Past President, Trustee, and President. In these roles, they led and represented the esteemed Medical Society and advocated for health policy positions that benefited the medical profession and the residents of New York.
Furthermore, Maldonado served as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Empire State Medical, Scientific and Educational Foundation. Joseph played a role in providing quality medical review services throughout New York and the US.
Additionally, Maldonado served as a Member of the Board of Directors for HealtheConnections, working to integrate the Central New York Health Systems Agency and the HealtheConnections Regional Health Information Organization. Joseph contributed to population health research and innovation initiatives.
Maldonado also held positions at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Clinical Education Consultant. Joseph also served as the Assistant Clinical Dean for a period.
Earlier in their career, Maldonado was a Urologist and President of Delta Urology, P.C., where they specialized in Urologic Oncology, Kidney Stones, and minimally invasive treatments for Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy. Currently, they limit their clinical activities in the practice to consulting with patients seeking advice concerning diagnostic and treatment options for Urological Cancers.
Maldonado has also contributed their expertise to the New York State Department of Health, serving as a member of various committees and workgroups related to healthcare innovation, integrated care, and health benefit programs.
Finally, they served as the CEO of Northern New York Medical Management Services Inc., overseeing medical management services in the region. Joseph also held the position of Chief Medical Officer at the Central New York Care Collaborative.
Joseph Maldonado has a diverse education history with a focus on major programme management, business administration, evidence-based health care, coaching, medicine, bioethics, chemistry, and engineering. Joseph earned an M.Sc. in Major Programme Management from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, they completed an MBA in Business Administration at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, from 2007 to 2008. In the same period, they also obtained a Diploma in Evidence Based Health Care from the University of Oxford. Additionally, Joseph pursued a coaching course at the University of Cambridge from 2014 to 2015.
In terms of medical education, Joseph Maldonado earned an M.D. in Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine between 1980 and 1985. Joseph furthered their medical knowledge by completing an M.Sc. in Bioethics at Albany Medical College from 2007 to 2014. Prior to their medical studies, Joseph received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College from 1976 to 1981.
Joseph also engaged in premedical studies at Harvard University from 1977 to 1978. Lastly, they pursued a DPhil in Engineering at the University of Cambridge starting in 2009.
In addition to their formal education, Joseph Maldonado holds several certifications in the field of forensic medicine. Joseph obtained the following certifications from The American College of Forensic Examiners Institute (ACFEI): Fellow, American Board of Forensic Medicine in January 2016, Diplomate, American Board of Forensic Examiners in February 1997, and Diplomate, American Board of Forensic Medicine in February 1997.
