Matt Richter has extensive work experience in compliance roles in the academic and medical research field. Matt currently works at the Medical College of Wisconsin as the Director of Corporate Compliance. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Manager of Research and Academic Compliance at the same institution. Before joining the Medical College of Wisconsin, Richter worked at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee as a Compliance Manager, where they managed conflict of interest, effort reporting, and export control compliance programs. Matt also provided consultation on research compliance issues. Richter's previous experience includes roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Effort Administrator/ECRT Manager and Conflict of Interest Program Specialist. Matt began their career with internships at both UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee, and also worked as a Grants & Contracts Specialist at UW-Milwaukee.

Matt Richter attended the University of Wisconsin Law School from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained a Doctor of Law degree (JD). Prior to that, they completed a Master of Arts degree (MA) in Technical and Professional Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2007 to 2009. Matt'sundergraduate studies were completed at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) between 1998 and 2002.
