John Ryan has extensive experience in software engineering, with their most recent role as Lead Software Engineer at Mechanical Orchard since May 2023. Previously, they worked at VMware as a Senior Software Engineer from January 2020 to May 2023. Prior to that, they held roles at Pivotal Software, Inc. as a Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Manager from June 2018 to December 2019, and at Disney Digital Studio Services as a Staff Software Engineer. John also worked at Pivotal Labs as a Senior Software Engineer from January 2014 to June 2018, and had various senior software engineering roles at Reel Security Corp., CoreLogic, SAMSUNG, Sundance Institute, and Sony Pictures Entertainment via Pivotal. At Sony Pictures Entertainment, they played a key role in delivering an Agile pilot project and coaching team members in XP principles and practices.

John Ryan attended the University of California, Davis from 1995 to 1998. John obtained a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering during this period.
