Rod Macfarlane has over 20 years of work experience in the legal and commercialization fields. From 1999 to 2002, they worked as a Contracts Coordinator for Scion, Group Legal Counsel for Affinity Internet, and Intellectual Property & Licensing Executive for PureDepth. From 2002 to 2005, they were an Intellectual Property Solicitor for Lowndes, Commercialisation Manager for CSIRO/Scion (Ensis) and Technology & Content Sourcing Manager and IP & Commercialisation Manager for Navman AU/NZ. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Partner for Macfarlane Engel & Associates, and from 2010 onwards, they have been the Executive Director of MEA.
Rod Macfarlane has a comprehensive educational background. Rod obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from the University of Canterbury between 1993 and 1996. Rod then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the same university between 1995 and 1999. In 2003, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Post Grad Diploma in Business (New Ventures) from The University of Auckland. Additionally, they obtained an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in May 2020.
