Darlene R. Saunders, PhD, MPH, MCHES®, currently serves as a Diabetes Management Specialist at McFarland & Associates Inc. since July 2022. Prior experience includes roles as Special Projects Manager at the Prince George's County Health Department, where responsibilities involved developing health initiatives and improving health outcomes, and as a Health and Wellness Consultant at Cigna, focusing on wellness presentations and health coaching. Darlene has held academic positions, including Visiting Assistant Professor at Towson University and Lecturer at the University of Maryland College Park. Notable research leadership includes managing a randomized controlled trial for the American Cancer Society aimed at prostate cancer screening education. Darlene's early career at the UNCF included directing public health initiatives and health education programs. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Public Health from the University of Maryland, a Master's in Public Health/Community Health Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor's in School Health Education & Community Health from Old Dominion University.
