Aydin Babakhani has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and research. Aydin is currently the Director of the UCLA Integrated Sensors Laboratory, a position they have held since November 2017. In addition, they are an Associate Professor at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, where they have been working since December 2017. Aydin also holds the role of Founder and Board Member at Nervonik, Inc., a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to their current roles, Aydin was Co-Founder and Board Member at Maxwell Biomedical Inc. starting in May 2018, and at MicroSilicon Inc. starting in February 2016. Aydin was also a member of the DARPA Microsystems Exploratory Council at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from May 2017 to May 2021. Before joining UCLA, Aydin worked at Rice University as an Associate Professor with Tenure and as the Director of the Rice Integrated Systems and Circuits Laboratory. Aydin also held positions at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center as a Research Scientist and at the California Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Scholar.
Aydin Babakhani completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, where they studied from 1999 to 2003. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Integrated Circuits and Antennas with a focus on Analog, RF, and mm-Wave at Caltech. Aydin enrolled in Caltech in 2003 and successfully completed their PhD in 2008.
